  • This course is for those interested in acting as a champion or currently supporting the delivery of the 'link' service and supporting colleagues, who want to increase their knowledge, be effective and confident in the role.

  • To benefit from this course, you MUST have completed the bronze level and/or silver level course before starting this gold level course

  • A guide to link working course is recommended but not compulsory

  • You can learn at your own pace and time. As a guide, the course takes between 2-4hrs

    Those roles that primarily involve linking and connecting people to the right professionals, services and activities to contribute to their health and wellbeing. These roles can be carried out by a competent paid worker or volunteer. Example job titles include: medical receptionist, care navigator, patient navigator, community guide, social prescriber, volunteer, link worker, connector

  • Why non-clinical 'link' roles

    It is widely accepted that to be healthy and well requires attention to a wide range of factors and interactions between them of which a majority are non-clinical. Non-clinical 'link' roles are increasingly being recognised locally, nationally, globally and across all sectors of the economy as a must for improving the health and wellbeing of the population.   • Why do you have various levels of non-clinical 'link' course

    There are different types of 'link' support available to enable people live well and be healthy. As a result, there are varying 'link' roles to match the type of 'link' support available. The levels distinguish the type of link support offered and therefore the knowledge and skills required to be effective and confident in the role.

  • Who would benefit from the courses

    This course is for you if either of the following applies: a) You have little or no experience and interested in non-clinical 'link' working. b) You are making a career change and interested in non-clinical 'link working'. c) You are interested in developing or building your 'link working' career path. d) You are experienced and interested in polishing or increasing your 'link working' skills and knowledge

  • Not just a job but a career, what does this mean

    The type of support given to the person is a continuum which therefore offers a career progression route. Our guide to link working course sheds more light on this.

  • Which course is right for my role or interest

    BRONZE LEVEL COURSE: Type of 'link' support offered; the person presents a need, either face to face or via telephone, you then signpost the person. SILVER LEVEL COURSE: Type of 'link' support offered; the person can self refer or is assigned to you and may not present a need or may have complex needs. You work with person on a one on one basis to identify needs, set goals, signpost and provide follow up support. Also, complete the bronze level course. GOLD LEVEL COURSE (CHAMPION): You are involved with or interested in supporting the delivery of the 'link' service provision and supporting 'link working' colleagues. Also complete either the silver level course or both bronze level + silver level courses.
